The World Seniors Snooker (WSS) ranking lists have been updated following the first World Seniors Tour event of the 2026/27 season at The Crucible Club in Reading last weekend.
The top two players on the official WSS ranking list, as well as the top two on the ‘Race to the Crucible’ one-year list will earn their places in the 2027 World Seniors Snooker Championship at the Crucible Theatre.
One point is awarded for each frame won at an event and, should the same players sit in the top two of both rankings lists, then the official world rankings would take priority.

Jersey’s Aaron Canavan is still the official World Seniors Snooker world number one following the first event of the new season at The Crucible Club.
The 2018 World Seniors champion lost out in the last 32 to James Brown last weekend but remains at the summit due to a hugely consistent two-year period which has seen him win three event titles and reach the final of the 2025 World Seniors Championship.
In the second automatic qualification position at this early stage is Gerard Greene, a winner of four events last season, despite also losing in the last 32 while two-time Crucible Theatre qualifier Wayne Townsend leads the chasing pack – sitting 26 points behind Greene.
Also among the top ten at the 2025 World Seniors champion Alfie Burden, who is currently 8th, while last weekend’s finalist Dean Galbally climbs to 10th.
Craig Steadman moves up to 24th place as a result of his victory in Reading.

Craig Steadman tops the one-year ‘Race to the Crucible’ ranking list after securing the event one title in Reading last weekend.
The current World Snooker Tour (WST) player holds a four-point lead over second-placed Dean Galbally as a result of his 4-0 victory over the 42-year-old in the event one final.
Leading the chasing pack are losing semi-finalists Daniel Ward and 2021 World Seniors champion David Lilley, while former ranking event winner Ryan Day sits fifth after being defeated by Ward in the quarter-finals.
The rest of the top ten is made up of Stephen Groves, Neal Jones, Stuart Watson, Mark Joyce and Neil Craycraft.

John Hunter maintains a dominant lead at the top of the Super Seniors table despite a surprise early exit to eventual finalist Dean Sycamore last weekend.
Hunter, who won five of the nine Super Seniors events staged last season, holds a 29-point lead over second-placed Neil Carroll.
Wayne Martin has risen to third as a result of his title win in Reading while runner-up Sycamore moves up the 20th place.
Event two takes place at The Crucible Club in Reading on 25-27 September and entries are open via WPBSA SnookerScores.
