World Seniors Snooker Announced £20,000 Increase to Qualifying Event Prize Fund

World Seniors Snooker (WSS) has announced a £20,000 increase to the prize fund for its 2026/27 qualifying events, further rewarding players competing for places at the televised stages of the WSS Tour events.

The total prize fund for the qualifying season will increase from £30,000 to £50,000, with the winner’s prize at each of the nine qualifying events doubling to £2,000. Prize money for runners-up, semi-finalists and quarter-finalists has also been increased.

In addition, £5,000 has been allocated to a new prize fund for the qualifying event for the 2027 UK Seniors Championship, which will be held from 6–9 January 2027. The winner will secure a place at the televised finals of that event in Liverpool in February.

World Seniors Snooker Chairman Jason Francis said: “This is fantastic news for the WSS Tour and for the many players who may not reach the televised stages at iconic venues such as the Crucible Theatre, but who commit to competing across nine weekends during the season.”

“Following the success of the recent World Seniors Championship, we’re delighted to welcome back the UK Seniors Championship in February, and stage an extra qualifier this season, while also increasing the rewards available to any player aged 40 or over who wants to compete on the WSS Tour.”

Senior British Open Champion Joe Perry, who will defend his title in Derby this Christmas, added: “It’s great to see the WSS Tour continuing to grow. With a £2,000 winner’s cheque at every qualifying event this season, I think even more players will be encouraged to get involved and support the Tour.”

The opening World Seniors Ranking event takes place over the weekend of 14–16 August and is open to all players aged 40 and over.

Entries for the opening event close at 12:00 BST on Friday 7 August – so there is still time to become a member, enter the tournament and take advantage of the increased prize fund.
