Aaron Canavan rose to prominence in 2018 as he became the first exclusively amateur player to become World Seniors Snooker champion in Scunthorpe.
A car restorer by trade, Canavan came through qualifying in Dunstable, before he defeated Dennis Taylor, John Farrell, Cao Kaisheng and finally Patrick Wallace 4-3 in the final, to capture the Tour’s premier title.
The victory earned him a place at the professional World Championship qualifiers in Sheffield, where he lost out 10-1 to former world number 12 Robert Milkins.
He has subsequently established himself as a regular competitor on the WSS Tour, reaching the quarter-finals of the World Seniors Championship in 2019 and 2020.
