The victory marked a maiden win on the World Seniors Tour for the 44-year-old, who denied Greene a hat-trick of titles with victory in the title match in Berkshire.

Five nations were represented at the event which was the fifth of nine in the series that offers qualification for next year’s World Seniors Snooker Championship at the Crucible Theatre.

Ward, who had reached the final of event two before losing out to Dharminder Lilly, survived an early scare by coming from 2-0 down against Neil Craycraft to advance as a 4-3 victor with breaks of 98, 83 and 61.

A 4-2 win against Stuart Watson followed to secure a place in the final day where he first met former World Seniors champion Aaron Canavan from Jersey.

The contest was closely contested as Ward led 2-0 and 3-1 but was forced into another deciding frame by his opponent.

Ward was again able to come through the final frame by a 75-39 scoreline and then downed Philip Williams 4-2 to reach his second title match of the campaign.

There he faced former professional Greene, who was on an incredible run of 15 consecutive victories on the World Seniors Tour and aiming for a third successive title.

The first four frames of the final were shared, but it was Ward who pulled away with a break 52 in the fifth before getting over the line a 4-2 victor to earn his first title on the World Seniors Tour.

Hunter Victorious in Super Seniors

John Hunter beat Neil Carroll 2-0 at The Crucible Club in Reading to win his second Super Seniors title of the season.

Results

Nineteen players contested the Sunday event, which is open to all players aged over 55, and Hunter defeated both Wayne Martin and Simon Dent by a 2-0 scoreline to reach the final.

Carroll awaited him in the title match after earning victories over Raymond Grall, Dennis Tristram and Colin Bark.

It was the 59-year-old Hunter who came out on top in the final, completing another 2-0 win to secure the title without dropping a frame across the day.

Three-time world champion Mark Williams has been announced as one of the remaining invitations for the 2026 World Seniors Snooker Championship.

‘The Welsh Potting Machine’, who won the World Seniors title in 2015, returns to the event for the first time in a decade following the removal of restrictions allowing top ranked players to be eligible to play in the flagship event.

Williams has also announced that any prize money he earns at the championship will automatically be donated to the Hospice of the Valleys, who enable people living with life-limiting conditions to live and die well, while supporting those who matter most the them. The hospital is based in Ebbw Vale, near Williams’ home.

Jason Francis, WSS Chairman, said: “It is brilliant to welcome Mark Williams back to the World Seniors Snooker Championship and what a fantastic gesture from Mark to donate any prize money he wins to his local hospital. With our strongest ever field already announced, the addition of Mark adds even more quality with every ball of the 24-player event being shown on Channel 5.”

Williams will begin his campaign for a second World Seniors Championship title on the afternoon of Friday 8 May with tickets now available here.

A strong field of 49 cueists embarked on the Berkshire venue including former World Seniors Snooker Championship winners Burden and Aaron Canavan, as well as this season’s event winners Dharminder Lilly and Greene.

Greene had won the previous event and made short work of his opening round encounter against Matthew Day to secure a 4-0 success, before coming through back-to-back deciding frames against Rory McLeod and Daniel Ward to reach the semi-finals stage.

Breaks of 51, 52 and 64 helped the former ranking event finalist to a comfortable 4-1 semi-final win against Matthew Ford to set up a title match contest with fellow former professional Burden.

Burden, the reigning World Seniors Snooker champion, had been in outstanding form across the weekend – dropping just two frames en route to the final and firing in a top break of 140 in his semi-final success against Wayne Townsend.

A high-quality final was opened with a contribution of 75 from Greene, before Burden moved 2-1 ahead with a break of 101 – his fourth century of the event.

Burden moved within one of victory by taking the fourth but Greene refused to go down without a fight and rallied to force a decider which he took with a break of 63 to earn his second successive World Seniors Tour title.

Martin Wins Maiden Super Seniors Title

Wayne Martin beat John Hunter 2-0 to win the first Super Seniors title of his career on Sunday.

Results

The 55-year-old came through a field of 19 players aged 55 and over to secure his maiden success at The Crucible Club in Reading, England.

Competing in the event for the first time, Martin dropped just a single frame en route to the title match as he downed Dean Powell (2-0), David Moritz (2-1) and Neil Carroll (2-0).

Current Super Seniors number one Hunter was the opponent in the final but he proved to be no match for Martin on this occasion, as he completed a 2-0 success with an impressive 90 break to take home the title.

World Seniors Snooker (WSS) is pleased to announce that the 2026 World Seniors Snooker Championship will return to the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield with an expanded field.

The flagship event, which will take place on 6-10 May 2026, will be shown live on Channel 5 in the UK and feature an increased line-up of 24 players with a two-table set up in the early rounds.

The 2015 Crucible champion Stuart Bingham will make his World Seniors Snooker Championship debut next May, as will former UK and Masters champion Matthew Stevens, 12-time World Women’s Snooker champion Reanne Evans and ranking event winner Anthony Hamilton.

Jimmy White will be looking to win a record-extending fifth World Seniors Snooker Championship title while 1997 world champion Ken Doherty aims for Seniors glory at the Crucible for the first time.

Defending champion Alfie Burden, Tony Drago, Joe Perry and Dominic Dale will also return to the sport’s most iconic venue in 2026 with six further players to be confirmed in due course.

A global field once again sees each continental Seniors champion earning a place in the tournament. Brazil’s Igor Figueiredo, champion in 2024, will make his return after lifting the Pan-American Seniors Championship title earlier this year while there is also a second consecutive appearance for Craig Steadman after he retained the European title last month.

Mohamed Samy Elkhayat, from Egypt, earns his place as the African Seniors champion and will be joined by the Asia-Pacific winner while four further places will be earned by qualifiers from the World Seniors Tour events.

Jason Francis, Chairman of WSS, said: “I am so pleased to announce our strongest ever field as we enter our new deal with Sheffield City Council, which will see the World Seniors Snooker Championship remain at the Crucible Theatre for at least the next two years.”

“By expanding our event we can give more players the ultimate dream of playing competitive snooker at the sport’s most famous venue. We have six more players to invite and are working on some securing some legends to complete our field. The 2026 World Seniors Snooker Championships promises to be the biggest and best yet – another Sheffield snooker event for Sheffield people.”

Igor Figueiredo defeated Noel Rodrigues Moreira 4-1 in the final of the 2025 Pan American Seniors Snooker Championship at the Aryan Snooker Club in Sacramento, California.

Success for Figueiredo earns him a place in the 2026 World Seniors Snooker Championship at the Crucible Theatre – the iconic venue where he defeated Ken Doherty in the 2024 final to win the biggest title of his career to date.

The Brazilian defeated his fellow countryman to lift the continental seniors crown for the second time in three years, having also won the title in 2023 on home soil in Rio de Janeiro.

A field of 48 cueists from Brazil, USA, Canada and Trinidad & Tobago embarked on the Aryan Snooker Club for the four-day event which was organised by the Pan American Billiards & Snooker Association (PABSA).

Figueiredo kicked off the event in style with an opening day break of 141, the highest of the tournament, and went on to top the six-player group phase with a clean sweep of victories and no frames dropped.

Knockout round wins against the American duo of Steven Wong (3-0) and Daren Mark Taylor (4-1) saw the 47-year-old join an all-Brazilian semi-final line-up alongside Itaro Santos, Moreira and defending champion Fabio Anderson Luersen.

A top break of 44 was enough for Figueiredo to defeat fellow former professional Santos 4-1 in the last four to set up a title match meeting with Moreira after he had been victorious by the same scoreline.

Figueiredo raced into a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven frame final with contributions of 35 and 62 and, despite a brief rally from Moreira, a further break of 60 saw the Brazilian get over the line as a 4-1 winner to secure the title.

Attention now turns to the 2025 Pan American Open Snooker Championship which runs from 3-7 September and offers a two-year World Snooker Tour (WST) tour card to the winner.

Live scores, results, and streaming will be available at cloudsnooker.com, with coverage also available on PABSA’s official Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube channels.
