Hosted by the new i20 Club in Hong Kong, the latest event by World Seniors Snooker welcomed players from seven countries, as well as other figures in the game including former world seniors champion Mark Davis and current world women’s number one and reigning world champion Ng On Yee, whose father was competing in the event. WPBSA chairman Jason Ferguson also attended for two days and caught up with fellow former professionals David Roe and Lee Richardson.

Following two days of tense competition it was Suchakree Poomjaeng, older brother of the charismatic Dechawat Poomjaeng, who ran out a comfortable winner against an opponent fresh from having faced Neil Robertson at last week’s Shanghai Masters.

Poomjaeng will now compete at this year’s UK Seniors Championship, which runs on 23-25 October 2018 at the new Bonus Arena in Hull. He will compete for the top prize of £10,000 amongst a field that includes icons of the game such as Stephen Hendry and Jimmy White.

The World Seniors Snooker Tour returns to the UK this weekend with the next qualifier taking place in Clacton-on-Sea, where former world number two Tony Knowles will be amongst the 62 runners.
