The World Seniors Snooker (WSS) ranking lists have been updated following the eighth and penultimate World Seniors Tour event of the 2025/26 season at The Crucible Club in Reading.

Official Two-Year Ranking List

Race to the Crucible Ranking List

Super Seniors Ranking List

Rankings FAQ

The top two players on the official WSS ranking list, as well as the top two on the ‘Race to the Crucible’ one-year list will earn their places in the World Seniors Championship.

One point is awarded for each frame won at an event and, should the same players sit in the top two of both rankings lists, then the official world rankings would take priority.

CANAVAN CONFIRMS CRUCIBLE SPOT

Aaron Canavan has guaranteed his place at the top of the official two-year WSS ranking list after winning the event eight title in Reading.

The former World Seniors champion, who finished as runner-up to Alfie Burden at the Crucible Theatre last year, has therefore confirmed his return to snooker’s most iconic venue in May.

In second place is Northern Ireland’s Gerard Greene, who has won four titles this season and is favourite to secure the other qualifying position via the two-year ranking list.

Greene holds a 21-point advantage over third-placed Wayne Townsend, who is aiming for a second Crucible appearance, while the top five is completed by Dharminder Lilly and the already qualified Burden.

GREENE IN POLL POSITION

Gerard Greene has maintained his position at the summit of the one-year ‘Race to the Crucible’ ranking list after reaching a sixth consecutive final in Reading.

Greene and Jersey’s Aaron Canavan holds the top two positions, just as they do in the two-year ranking list, with 14 points separating the two.

Wayne Townsend remains in third, 25 points behind second-placed Canavan, while Stuart Watson and Matthew Ford lead the chasing pack.

The remainder of the top ten is made up of Neal Jones, Philip Williams, Daniel Ward and Neil Craycraft.

HUNTER MAINTAINS LEAD

John Hunter remains at the top of the Super Seniors ranking list after securing another title at The Crucible Club in Reading.

He now holds a 15 point advantage over second placed David Brock, while Neil Carroll holds third position.

The rest of the top ten sees Dennis Tristram, Andrew Barrett, Mark Evans, Wayne Martin, Andrew Norman, John Rees and Kevin Wilshere.

The ninth and final World Seniors Tour event of the season takes place on 3-5 April and entries are open via WPBSA SnookerScores.

By lifting the title, the 2018 World Seniors Snooker (WSS) champion has guaranteed that he will finish first on the official two-year ranking list at the end of the campaign and has therefore qualified for the 2026 edition of the flagship event at the Crucible Theatre in May.

Canavan, from Jersey, denied Greene a fifth title of the series but the former professional from Northern Ireland still looks likely to join him in qualifying for the sport’s most iconic venue.

Forty-two players contested the two-day event and Canavan reached the concluding day of action by defeating Stephen Groves (4-2) and Ian Rose (4-0).

He began the Sunday by overcoming Dean Galbally 4-1 before a top break of 100 saw Canavan beat Steve Crowley 4-2 to set up a title match meeting with Greene.

Greene had made it to a sixth successive World Seniors Tour event final by last downing Matthew Ford 4-1 and only losing a single frame en route.

Canavan was competing in his second final of the season, having made it to at least the quarter-finals of all but one of the previous seven events, and his consistency was finally rewarded as contributions of 61 and 76 saw him get over the line and secure the title.

Hunter Goes Back-To-Back

John Hunter beat David Brock 2-0 to win a second consecutive Super Seniors title at The Crucible Club in Reading.

Results

It marked a third title of the season for Hunter, who is ranked first in the Super Seniors ranking list, as he came through a field of 23 players aged 55 and over on Sunday.

He dropped just a single frame en route to the final as he defeated Paul Smith (2-0), Wayne Martin (2-1) and Mark Evans (2-0).

There he faced Brock, who had won through consecutive deciders against Mark Thomas, Brian Sharpe and Andrew Barrett to reach the title match.

Hunter once again proved too strong, however, and a top break of 36 helped him to secure the crown.

The ninth and final World Seniors Tour event of the season takes place on 3-5 April and entries are open via WPBSA SnookerScores.

Brilliance in Berkshire saw Greene continue a memorable season on the World Seniors Snooker (WSS) Tour – having reached the last five event finals, winning four of them, and also firing in a magical maximum break last month.

The former professional began his weekend with back-to-back whitewash wins over Danny Rydzek and previous event winner Daniel Ward to reach the last eight.

England’s Matthew Ford was the first cueist to take a frame off the eventual champion as he took the opener in their quarter-final meeting on Sunday.

Greene was able to win four of the next five, however, to advance as a 4-2 winner before another whitewash win followed against Stuart Watson to book his place in a fifth consecutive final.

A memorable weekend for Stott had seen him reach his maiden World Seniors Tour event final, having never previously gone beyond the last 16 stage in the previous six attempts.

The 43-year-old had last defeated former professional Philip Williams in a decider to advance to this stage and held his own in the early exchanges of the final as the first two frames were shared.

From there, Greene stepped up a gear and a break of 60 helped the Northern Irishman to a 4-1 victory to earn the title in Reading once more.

Hunter Back On Top in Super Seniors

John Hunter defeated David Moritz 2-0 to win his third Super Seniors title of the season in Reading.

Results

Hunter, who also won the second and fifth events of the campaign, won through a field of 18 players on Sunday to further his position at the summit of the Super Seniors ranking list.

The one-day competition, which is open to players aged 55 and over, saw Hunter defeat Edward Folly (2-0), Andrew Norman (2-1) and Mark Evans (2-1) en route to the title match.

His last opponent was Moritz, a former ranking event finalist on the World Disability Billiards & Snooker (WDBS) Tour, who had overcome John Rees in a decider to reach his maiden Super Seniors final.

Hunter was in fine scoring form, having already compiled the tournament high break of 96 in the quarter-finals, and he compiled visits of 65 and 47 to secure the title as a 2-0 victor.

Gerard Greene made history by compiling the first ever 147 break on the World Seniors Snooker (WSS) Tour en route to lifting his third title of the campaign at the Crucible Club in Reading last weekend.

The magical maximum break came in the final frame of Greene’s last 16 victory over Tam Mustafa and the former professional went on to secure the title with a whitewash win against Stuart Watson in the final.

A total of 46 players contested the two-day event in Berkshire and the 52-year-old made a strong start to the weekend by defeating Andy Lavin 4-1 in the opening round with contributions of 51 and 74.

His next match against Mustafa saw history made for the WSS Tour.

Breaks of 86 and 56 had put Greene one frame away from the final day at 3-0 and the Northern Irishman wrapped up the win in style by potting 15 reds, 15 blacks and all the colours to complete the Tour’s first ever 147 break.

Greene looked to be heading home at the quarter-final stage as 58-year-old Welshman Philip Williams moved 3-0 ahead in a race to four.

The eventual champion rallied, however, to get over the line in a deciding frame before once again showing his battling qualities to come from 3-2 down against WSS world number one Aaron Canavan to reach the title match.

Watson awaited him after he last defeated Matthew Day 4-0 to reach his first final of the season.

Greene scored breaks of 78 and 83 to move 2-0 ahead and, from there, he never looked back as he completed the whitewash to earn his third title in four events.

Beal, who had earlier reached the final of the second event of the campaign, did not drop a frame all day as he whitewashed Dennis Tristram, Andrew Barrett and David Brock to reach the final of the one-day competition for cueists aged 55 and over.

Event four winner Martin was his title match opponent after he came through a decider against John Spencer in the semi-finals.

A visit of 40 helped Beal take the decider and he successfully made it eight frames without reply in the event in the next to secure the Super Seniors crown.

The victory marked a maiden win on the World Seniors Tour for the 44-year-old, who denied Greene a hat-trick of titles with victory in the title match in Berkshire.

Five nations were represented at the event which was the fifth of nine in the series that offers qualification for next year’s World Seniors Snooker Championship at the Crucible Theatre.

Ward, who had reached the final of event two before losing out to Dharminder Lilly, survived an early scare by coming from 2-0 down against Neil Craycraft to advance as a 4-3 victor with breaks of 98, 83 and 61.

A 4-2 win against Stuart Watson followed to secure a place in the final day where he first met former World Seniors champion Aaron Canavan from Jersey.

The contest was closely contested as Ward led 2-0 and 3-1 but was forced into another deciding frame by his opponent.

Ward was again able to come through the final frame by a 75-39 scoreline and then downed Philip Williams 4-2 to reach his second title match of the campaign.

There he faced former professional Greene, who was on an incredible run of 15 consecutive victories on the World Seniors Tour and aiming for a third successive title.

The first four frames of the final were shared, but it was Ward who pulled away with a break 52 in the fifth before getting over the line a 4-2 victor to earn his first title on the World Seniors Tour.

Carroll awaited him in the title match after earning victories over Raymond Grall, Dennis Tristram and Colin Bark.

It was the 59-year-old Hunter who came out on top in the final, completing another 2-0 win to secure the title without dropping a frame across the day.

A strong field of 49 cueists embarked on the Berkshire venue including former World Seniors Snooker Championship winners Burden and Aaron Canavan, as well as this season’s event winners Dharminder Lilly and Greene.

Greene had won the previous event and made short work of his opening round encounter against Matthew Day to secure a 4-0 success, before coming through back-to-back deciding frames against Rory McLeod and Daniel Ward to reach the semi-finals stage.

Breaks of 51, 52 and 64 helped the former ranking event finalist to a comfortable 4-1 semi-final win against Matthew Ford to set up a title match contest with fellow former professional Burden.

Burden, the reigning World Seniors Snooker champion, had been in outstanding form across the weekend – dropping just two frames en route to the final and firing in a top break of 140 in his semi-final success against Wayne Townsend.

A high-quality final was opened with a contribution of 75 from Greene, before Burden moved 2-1 ahead with a break of 101 – his fourth century of the event.

Burden moved within one of victory by taking the fourth but Greene refused to go down without a fight and rallied to force a decider which he took with a break of 63 to earn his second successive World Seniors Tour title.

Martin Wins Maiden Super Seniors Title

Wayne Martin beat John Hunter 2-0 to win the first Super Seniors title of his career on Sunday.

Results

The 55-year-old came through a field of 19 players aged 55 and over to secure his maiden success at The Crucible Club in Reading, England.

Competing in the event for the first time, Martin dropped just a single frame en route to the title match as he downed Dean Powell (2-0), David Moritz (2-1) and Neil Carroll (2-0).

Current Super Seniors number one Hunter was the opponent in the final but he proved to be no match for Martin on this occasion, as he completed a 2-0 success with an impressive 90 break to take home the title.

The former professional is the third different winner of a title this season, following Alfie Burden and Dharminder Lilly, and climbs to fifth in the one-year ‘Race to the Crucible’ ranking list.

Forty-six players from four nations embarked on the Berkshire venue and Greene started strongly with wins against John Daly (4-0), Andrew Sheehan (4-2) and Brian Salmon (4-1) to reach the quarter-finals.

Breaks of 95 and 94 helped the former ranking event runner-up to a 4-1 victory over Karl Townsend to set up a semi-final meeting with Aaron Canavan.

The former World Seniors Snooker Championship winner from Jersey took the opener but Greene quickly pulled away with a top contribution of 74 to reach the title match as a 4-1 victor.

Former English Amateur champion Curtis-Barrett was his final opponent and the two players shared the first four frames of the best-of-seven frame contest.

From there, Greene showed his class and completed the victory with a break of 55 to take home the title.

Milliard Wins Super Seniors

Andy Milliard beat Andrew Norman 2-0 to win the Super Seniors title on Sunday in Reading.

Results

Milliard came through a field of 19 players aged over 55 at the The Crucible Club to win a first Super Seniors title of the new campaign.

Consecutive whitewash victories over Paul Burrell, Andrew Barrett and John Morris saw Milliard into the semi-finals where he then overcame Super Seniors number one John Hunter in a deciding frame.

The title match saw him face former professional Norman, but it was Milliard who proved to be the strongest player on the day as he ran out a 2-0 victor to secure the title.

Two of the pre-tournament favourites fell at the first hurdle on day two of the 2025 JenningsBet World Seniors Snooker Championship as Jimmy White and Ken Doherty lost to Alfie Burden and Charl Jonck in the opening round.

The quarter-final line-up in Sheffield was completed by the close of play on Thursday as Burden and Jonck were joined by Tony Drago, who dramatically defeated Gerard Greene in a deciding frame, and Hassan Kerde – who whitewashed Tony Knowles on his Crucible debut.

A blockbuster afternoon session saw four-times World Seniors Snooker champion White and 1997 world champion Doherty in action in front of a buzzing Yorkshire crowd at snooker’s most iconic venue.

An all-London affair saw ‘The Whirlwind’ taking on Burden in a repeat of the 2023 World Seniors Snooker Championship final and it was the ‘Golden Ticket’ play-off qualifier who made a strong start to move into a 2-0 lead.

White hit back with an 82 break to reduce the deficit but never truly got going in his pursuit of a record-extending fifth title and it was opponent who comfortably got over the line a 4-1 victor with a concluding break of 92.

Post-match Burden reflected: “I first practiced with Jimmy when I was a 15-year-old boy. We’ve had this amazing friendship for many years and I don’t get any pleasure in beating Jimmy but I was focused on winning and I had to blank out who I was playing. I know he wants me to win it now.”

In one of the biggest upsets in the history of the Championship, South African qualifier Jonck overcame former world champion Doherty 4-2 on his Crucible debut.

The opening exchanges were scrappy but Doherty was able to move into a 2-0 lead before Jonck hit back and a break of 64 restored parity at 2-2.

From there, the reigning African Seniors champion visibly grew in confidence and ran out a 4-2 winner with a further contribution of 63 in the penultimate frame.

“That was surreal. It was the lifelong ambition becoming a reality” Jonck said, adding: “The crowd were electric and it was the best feeling ever. Everybody loves an underdog story, don’t they?”

After defeating White in the opening match of the afternoon, Burden will next face Malta’s Drago in the quarter-finals after ‘The Tornado’ came through a dramatic encounter with Greene in the evening session.

The Maltese cueist took the opener with a break of 75 and looked set to double his advantage before Greene managed to get two snooker’s and steal the second with a calm colour clearance.

The next four frames were shared, resulting in the tournament’s first decider, and it was Drago who fired in a break of 68 to reach the last eight.

Drago said: “At one time it looked like I might win easily and have an early night but then I collapsed in nearly every frame. I couldn’t have done this before, missing so many balls and then coming back from 3-2 down to win, so I think in my old age I am doing something right that I didn’t do before!”

The quarter-final line-up was completed by Australia’s Kerde as he impressed on debut to whitewash former world number two Knowles.

The Asia-Pacific Seniors champion will now face Jonck on Friday in a international clash after breaks of 53, 62, 66 and 59 gave Kerde victory in one of the finest performances of the opening round.

“I’m over the moon. I’ve watched the Crucible for the last 20 years and to just come and watch a match would have been awesome. This is everything, I consider myself one of the top amateur players in Australia and this is a world stage so to go all the way would mean everything for my life.” Kerde said following his victory.

The quarter-finals take place tomorrow from 12:00 BST live on Channel 5 and 5Action.

A dramatic weekend in Berkshire saw four places at the Crucible Theatre secured as Aaron Canavan, Andrew Norman, Wayne Townsend and Gerard Greene each qualified for the 2025 JenningsBet World Seniors Snooker Championship in May.

Burden required just two frames in the final to overtake Greene at the last moment but he was denied by McLeod and both will now have to settle for a place in the last chance Play-Off event later this month.

A total of 36 players from five countries contested the competition with the field narrowed down to the final eight heading into the Sunday.

By the end of the opening day, three players had confirmed their place at this year’s JenningsBet World Seniors Snooker Championship.

Canavan and Norman, who won two and three events respectively during the campaign, each reach the quarter-finals and confirmed their qualification by the official two-year ranking list as a result.

Canavan, from Jersey, ends the campaign as world number one and will compete at the Crucible for the fifth time in his career.

It is an event that holds great memories for the 49-year-old, who won the flagship title in Scunthorpe in 2018.

“I think the experience will definitely benefit me, I know what to expect. The first time was so daunting walking out and you look up and see the starry lights and everyone is looking down on you. It can be overwhelming but I’ve experienced it so I know what to expect and I am going to take that with me and use it to my advantage” Canavan said.

Meanwhile, Norman returns to snooker’s most iconic venue for a second consecutive year after just losing out to Jimmy White 12 months ago.

“I feel fantastic. This has been a totally different season – last year I won one qualifying event and then had to wait ten months for the World Championship to come around. This year, I’ve played in nine events – I won event three and then went on a roll of winning three on the bounce and losing in the final of the next” Norman said.

He added: “The biggest thing I can do going back in there is just take a little bit more time on my shots because the excitement and adrenaline does push you round. A rush of blood to the head cost me a fatal black off the spot against Jimmy last year.”

Despite a deciding frame defeat to McLeod in the last 16, Townsend already knew that he had finally fulfilled his dream of qualifying for the Crucible next month via the one-year list.

Townsend is a highlight of the new qualifying format, with his consistency shining through during the campaign.

He said: “It’s the best day of my life, it doesn’t come much better than this. This is what you dream of as a snooker player ever since I started playing. It’s a dream come true. I’ve been so consistent this year so I would’ve been devastated to have just missed out so I’m just happy that I’m over the line – it’s a weight off my shoulders.”

Greene, Burden and Philip Williams all remained in contention for the last spot heading into the semi-final stage on Sunday.

Williams’ hopes were ended by McLeod, who defeated him 4-2, while Burden hung on courtesy of a dramatic final frame victory on the pink against Canavan to reach the final.

The 2023 World Seniors Snooker Championship finalist knew he needed just two frames in the final to leapfrog Greene but he struggled to get going in the best-of-seven frame contest and quickly found him 3-0 behind to McLeod.

Burden kept his hopes alive by taking a nervy fourth frame on the colours but it wasn’t enough as McLeod fired in a break of 85 in the next to secure the title.

TOWNSEND WINS SUPER SENIORS

Karl Townsend defeated Richie Howson 2-0 to win the concluding Super Seniors event of the season in Reading on Sunday.

Results

The event is open to all cueists over the age of 55 and was held on Sunday alongside the main Race to the Crucible series event.

The former professional dropped just a single frame all day as he defeated Edward Folly (2-0), Dennis Tristram (2-1) and Anthony Harris (2-0) to reach the title match against Howson.

Howson, who is better known for his darting ability and is a former World Seniors Darts Championship runner-up, impressed on the baize as he overcame Richard Pipe (2-0) and David Brock (2-1) to set up a final meeting with Townsend.

The 58-year-old Townsend proved too strong in the final however as he ran out a 2-0 victor to secure the title.

The ‘Golden Ticket’ Play-Off will take place on 19-20 April at The Crucible Club in Reading with 16 players competing for the final place in the 2025 JenningsBet World Seniors Snooker Championship. The draw for this event will be published in due course.

However, after an intriguing long weekend where he showed his class, Norman made sure that his name will be the draw this time around.

The 43-year-old began his campaign with 3-1 victories against Michael Judge and Ant Parsons in the last 32 and 16 respectively to make it through to Sunday’s last eight.

The 2022 English Seniors Snooker Champion recovered from 2-0 down as he defeated Dharminder Lilly 4-2 (77 break, frame six) in the quarter-finals before denying two-time Crucible qualifier for this event Stuart Watson 4-1 in the last four.

Coming through the other side of the draw was Hancorn, who was trying to repeat the feat of winning the opening qualifier of the season, which he did last year on his debut. The former English Amateur Snooker Champion eventually went all the way to the semi-finals at the Crucible.

Hancorn survived deciding frames against Neal Jones and Patrick Wallace before returning for Finals Day where he eliminated Rodney Goggins 4-2 and then Gerard Greene 4-1 in the semi-finals during a display in which he compiled breaks of 76, 62 and 52.

In the final Hancorn established a 2-0 advantage, but Norman responded as he levelled at 2-2. Hancorn went back in front and one away from victory although Norman recovered again, hitting a 59 break on his way to forcing a seventh and final frame which he emerged from.
